Ice Cream Pint Cozy Pattern<\/span><\/h4>\n

This pattern uses a modified bobble stitch<\/span><\/p>\n

bobble = <\/b>3 double crochet bobble<\/span><\/p>\n

ch<\/b> = chain<\/span><\/p>\n

hdc<\/b> = half double crochet<\/span><\/p>\n

MAR <\/b>= magic adjustable ring<\/span><\/p>\n

rep<\/b> = repeat<\/span><\/p>\n

sc<\/b> = single crochet<\/span><\/p>\n

sc-blo<\/b> = single crochet into the back loop only<\/span><\/p>\n

slst<\/b> = slip stitch<\/span><\/p>\n

st(s)<\/b> = stitches<\/span><\/p>\n

Size: <\/b>Ice Cream Pint Cozy measures approximately 3.5″ x 3.25″ and can fit most pint sized containers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Gauge:<\/b> The gauge is the measurement across the bottom of the cozy. Once you have completed rounds 1-5 check that your base measures 3.25″<\/span><\/p>\n

Materials:\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

Yarn: Bulky\/Super Bulky yarn – suggested yarn, Bernat Maker Home Dec Yarn<\/span><\/a><\/b><\/p>\n

Other yarns can be used, I just made all my cozies using the above yarn and found that it was perfect for this project.<\/span><\/p>\n

US I-9\/5.5mm Crochet Hook<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Let’s get started<\/b><\/p>\n

Please read through entire pattern before starting<\/span><\/h4>\n

Make a MAR. You can also ch4 and join with a slst to form a ring.<\/span><\/p>\n

Round 1: <\/b>8 sc into the MAR. Join with a slst. (8)<\/span><\/p>\n

Round 2: <\/b>\u00a0ch1, 2sc into each st around. Join with a slst. (16)<\/span><\/p>\n

Round 3: <\/b>ch1, 1sc in the same st, 2sc in the next st. *1sc in the next st, 2sc in the next st, rep from * to end. Join with a slst. (24)<\/span><\/p>\n

Round 4: <\/b>ch1, *1sc into the next 2 sts, 2 sc into the next st.\u00a0 rep from * to end. Join with a slst. (32)<\/span><\/p>\n

Round 5: <\/b>ch1, 1 hdc into each st around. (32)<\/span><\/p>\n

Measure gauge at this point, you want your base to measure 3.25\u201d across.<\/span><\/p>\n

While crocheting Round 5 you will notice your work may curl slightly, this is totally normal. To make it easier to measure the base I turn the work so the wrong side is showing and lay flat.<\/span><\/p>\n

Round 6: <\/b>ch1, sc-blo into each st around. Join with a slst. (32) See special abbreviations towards the end of post for pictures of the sc-blo<\/span><\/p>\n

Round 7: <\/b>ch2, skip the next st, work 1 sc into the next st, * ch1, skip the next st, work 1 sc into the next st, rep from * to last 2 sts, ch1, skip the next st, join round with a slst. (32 = 16 sc, 16 ch1 spaces)<\/span><\/p>\n

Round 8: <\/b>ch2, 1 bobble into the space between each sc until last space. In the last space do a partial bobble. join round with a slst into the space between the ch2 and the first bobble. (16 bobbles)<\/span><\/p>\n

Round 9: <\/b>ch2, work 1 sc into the space between the bobble * ch1, work 1 sc into the space between the bobble, rep from * to the last bobble, ch1, join round with a slst. (32 = 16 sc, 16 ch1 spaces)<\/span><\/p>\n

Round 10: <\/b>rep round 8.<\/span><\/p>\n

Round 11: <\/b>rep round 9.<\/span><\/p>\n

Round 12: <\/b>rep round 8.<\/span><\/p>\n

Round 13: <\/b>ch1, sc into each st across. In this round you will sc into the top of the bobble and the space between each bobble, join round with a slst. (32)<\/span><\/p>\n

Round 14: <\/b>\u00a0slst into the back loop of each st across.<\/span><\/p>\n

Pull yarn through, cut yarn and weave in all yarn tails.<\/span><\/p>\n

For a seamless join, weave your yarn tail over the first slst before weaving in the yarn tail and tying off. If you cut the yarn after completing the last slst from the final round and pull your yarn through you can take the yarn and stitch over the first slip stitch of the round for a seamless join. Then weave the yarn tail on the inside of the cozy and tie off.<\/b><\/p>\n

1. Insert darning needle using the eye, this makes it a bit easier to weave in. 2. Stitch over the first slst highlighted in blue. 3. Insert hook into the center of the last slst, then weave yarn tail in on the inside of the cozy.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Now you have a super cute ice cream pint cozy that will fit on most pint sized containers, even a mason jar!<\/span><\/p>\n

Special Terms<\/h4>\n

Bobble Stitch: <\/b>In this pattern I have made a slight modification to the bobble stitch and will refer to it as \u2018bobble\u2019<\/strong> in this patte<\/span>rn. The bobble stitch combines the technique of the cluster stitch and shell technique. Shells are usually made using double crochet stitches and are formed by working several stitches into the same stitch (or space). Clusters are formed by working several stitches into different stitches then joining the tops into one stitch. The bobble stitch combines these techniques by working double crochet stitches up to the last yarn over into the same stitch, then joining the tops into a single top.<\/span><\/p>\n

In this pattern you will be creating a bobble stitch by crocheting 3 double crochets up to the last yarn over into a chain 1 space then combining them into one stitch at the top. Then Ch1 to complete the bobble.<\/span><\/p>\n

Completing the Modified Bobble Stitch<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. Ch 2 when starting the first bobble. 2. Do 3 double crochets up to the last yarn over\u00a0 into the ch2 space. 3. Once you have 3 partial double crochets on your hook, grab your working yarn and pull it through all 4 loops on hook. 4. Ch1 to complete the bobble.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The Partial Bobble<\/strong> is pretty much the same as the regular bobble, you will do 2 double crochets up to the last yarn over then pull your working yarn through 3 loops on your hook. DO NOT CHAIN 1.<\/p>\n

1. Do 2 double crochets up to the last yarn over, you will have 3 loops on your hook. 2. Grab working yarn and pull through all 3 loops. 3. Slip Stitch into the top of the first bobble (highlighted in blue) to join in the round.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Remember, the ch2 at the beginning of each round of bobbles is the last part of the last bobble of the round. For the last bobble you will do a partial bobble, 2 double crochets up to the yarn over into a chain 1 space, then join the round with a slip stitch. You will not ch1 at the end of the partial bobble.<\/span><\/p>\n

Single Crochet into the Back Loop<\/strong> Only:<\/strong> abbreviated in this pattern as sc-blo\u00a0<\/strong>insert your hook and single crochet into the back loop only (highligted in blue), instead of going under both loops of the stitch from the round below.<\/p>\n

Parenthesis <\/b>() in this pattern indicate the number of stitches left at the end of a round.<\/span><\/p>\n

Asterisks<\/b> * are used in this pattern to indicate repetition of a sequence of stitches.<\/span><\/p>\n
