Free Crochet Flower Video Tutorial with free Printable Tag

I wanted to share how I make a crochet flower purse charm. These little flower charms are great added onto so many different things, I will be adding mine onto my Trader Joe’s Tote bag and my Project Bag!

Hook: 6mm US J-10

Yarn: Bulky Weight, Bernat Maker is used in the video tutorial but you can use any weight yarn with the size hook suggested for the yarn.

Darning Needle

Hot Glue gun with Hot Glue Sticks

Size: Size will vary depending on yarn used. 

Gauge: Not terribly important for this pattern.

ch- chain

dc- double crochet

hdc- half double crochet

MAR- magic adjustable ring

sl st- slip stitch st(s)- stitch(es)      

The written pattern is in US Terms in English

You will need 3 colors for a purse charm, or 2 colors if you are only making the flower.

With Color A, create a MAR, ch1

Round 1 – Color A: 9 hdc into MAR, pull MAR tail to cinch closed. Join in the beginning with a sl st. (9) Cut yarn and weave in yarn tails.

Round 2 – Color B: attach color B to the top of any hdc of the center circle. *ch3, 2 dc into the same space, ch3, slip stitch into the same space. sl st into the next space. Repeat from * into each space. (9 Petals) Cut yarn and weave in yarn tails. Create 2 circles if you will be making a purse/bag charm.

Creating the connecting “Vine”

Create a MAR with Color C work 9 hdc into the MAR, pull MAR tail to cinch closed. Join in the beginning with a sl st. (9) chain 51, insert into the 2nd chain from the hook and work 9 hdc into that same chain. Cut yarn tail and weave end all yarn tails.

Hot Glue the connecting “vine” to each of the flowers and your purse charm is complete 🙂 See video linked above for visual instructions on how to complete each step.
