Dollar Store Frame Makeover
with Washi Tape
This is a fun and quick project that can be done in one afternoon. This is also a great project for school aged kids.
All you need is Washi Tape and a few frames, I found these frames at the Dollar Store and had them leftover from another project. The frames are plastic which is a great surface for the Washi Tape to be applied. It also is easy to remove, so you can remake this frame with other holiday Washi Tape.
Materials:
Washi Tape
Frame
Xacto Knife
Photo or Kids Artwork
Washi Tape and frames come in all sizes, you can use a tape that fits easily inside a bevel of a frame, or you can also use tape on a fram without a bevel that is too big. The image above, with the black frame the tape fit perfectly inside the bevel of the frame, all I needed to do was cut the corners. If your tape is bigger than the face of the frame like the images below with the white frame, you will need to cut the corners and fold down the tape.
Since these frames are temporary holiday decorations, I chose to just leave the sides without wrapping additional tape along the edge. If I were to do this on a frame that was going to be displayed longer, I would suggest wrapping a piece of tape all around the outer edge of the frame.
Repeat for all sides of the frame.
Add a photo or some Halloween Artwork that your little ones have done and display.
I had the boys do some sticker art and we added a few of the pieces to the frames. The kids really like seeing projects that they made hung up around the house, and this is a great way to display your child’s artwork.
